Another transition for Micah
Last Saturday, this little boy, at 2.5 years old said goodbye to his crib. He stood in it one last time so I could take some pictures then his daddy and big brother went to work disassembling it.
While they worked, Micah played. We talked up this transition to him and he seemed ready. We are taking it in steps. The first was to remove the front and make it into a toddler bed. After a couple of weeks, we will convert it into the full size bed.
He climbed right into that bed like a champ. He and Jonah played for a while. We let him come and go into the bed just getting used to it.
We put the bed rail on and showed him how to get in and out at the end of his crib. Then we talked to him about not getting out when he is supposed to be sleeping. We told him that even though he could get in and out that he shouldn't unless we were in there. We expected that to go in one ear and out the other.
But, nine nights later, I'm here to tell you he has done amazing. He has not gotten out of bed once without us in there. Yesterday, we were getting ready for a party at our house when he woke up. I watched him for over an hour on the monitor. He sat up and played but never stepped out. When I walked in his room, he said "I get out?" I'm so proud of him. I think he is definitely ready for the full conversion now. Hopefully that will happen this week. And, from the picture below, can you tell he likes it?
