Last Sunday as we were leaving church, we discussed the vast number of people who told us to have a relaxing vacation. We always said "thanks" but quietly chuckled to ourselves. A trip home is never relaxing!
Weeks ago I had an Excel Spreadsheet outlining most every moment of this trip. I learned years ago that if you care to see people, you have to make them a priority and schedule time in advance. So, we did. As a result, this trip has been CRAZY!
We are down to our final two nights here. We have seen so many of our friends and family. We have eaten the most incredible food. We've swam in pools. We've played with toys. We've had a great time.
It hasn't been the least bit relaxing but it has been needed. This was Dan's first trip home since we moved three years ago. This was Micah's first trip since he started walking. We have certainly enjoyed being together as a family. Dan has basically put his phone down and disconnected from life in Florida. Minus a few issues that he had to deal with and a few problems for church members, he has been all about his family this week. That was needed for us...and him. Work has been crazy for him since last August so I'm glad he has had this time.
It hasn't been at all relaxing, but it has been exactly what this family needed.
