Christmas Eve at our house

Before you read any further, go HERE to see Jonah's very first Christmas Eve. Then, go HERE to see last year. Ok, are you caught up on our traditions? Ok, you can keep reading!

I bought Dan's book several months ago and couldn't wait for him to open it and read it to Jonah. Unfortunately, Jonah equates dim lights and story time with bedtime. He wanted NO part of this. He was okay while helping Dan open the book but did not want to sit in the dark room next to the tree to read a book. He thought we were trying to lull him to sleep.

Prayers in the dark are also a transition to bedtime so this was a mistake also. So much for praying together on Christmas Eve to thank God for giving us Jesus. I hope God could hear our prayer though the wails of a two year old who did not want to go to bed.

After finishing with the book, Jonah helped me open my ornament. This is our other mommy/daddy Christmas Eve tradition. He handled this one a little better since it did not involve any of our other bedtime routine.

Christmas is such a special time of year but it is so magical when shared with a child. You see everything through different eyes. Even the simple becomes majestic!!

oh so true...about viewing Christmas through the eyes of a child, but all things are for that matter...natalie was just giddy tonight playing with her ice cream play doh set! oh so much fun!

I LOVE the photo of Jonah gazing at the cross-shaped ornament. So beautiful!
