Mommy's Birthday in St. Augustine

We've lived in Florida for over 7 years but had never made a day trip to St. Augustine until my birthday.  My boys are very good about asking what I want to do on my birthday so I did a little research about fun things going on and decided to hit St. Augustine.  We started with lunch at The Columbia.  I could totally go for another one of those salads they make at your table!  The Columbia Original 1905 salad.  (The Columbia’s legendary salad tossed at your table. Crisp Iceberg lettuce with julienne of baked ham, natural Swiss cheese, tomato, olives,
grated Romano cheese and our famous garlic dressing. The award-winning salad
won honors from USA Today as “One of 10 Great Places to Make a Meal Out of a Salad.” The signature salad, named for the year the restaurant was founded in Tampa’s Latin district of Ybor City, was inspired by immigrants to the Cigar City: Romano cheese from the Sicilians and the famous garlic dressing used by Cubans to marinate fresh roast pork, plus Florida tomatoes, iceberg lettuce*, julienne of baked ham and Swiss cheese. In the 40s, Tony Noriega, who ventured to New York City during the Depression to nd work, added a “secret ingredient,” Worcestershire sauce, to the recipe. 11.95

After lunch, we went to the fort to do some exploring.

We stuck around to hear them fire the cannons.  It was crazy cool and CRAZY LOUD!

We left the fort and circled back around to The Hyppo.  We passed it on the way into lunch and the boys both wanted a pop.

We spent more time in the city and then stuck around to the see the lights.  We will definitely be back to St. Augustine.  There was so much to see and do.

As we were driving home, I got a text from my friend Jennifer saying she would be by soon with a birthday cake.  She made this and delivered it to us to enjoy.  SO sweet!

My three boys certainly spoiled me and made the day so perfect.  I loved getting to celebrate with them!
