A couple of months ago, Micah settled on a theme for his 4th birthday party. He was in between Monster's Inc. and Toy Story. He could not make up his mind so I helped him decide Toy Story. We set the date. We ordered a cute shirt. I started collecting some of his toys in a box to use for decorations. Then, life got a little crazy. Dan was gone a lot. I was super busy. Some other things happened and a party kept ending up on the back burner. Finally, I waved the white flag of surrender and called a new bounce house place in Daytona to see if they had any party openings. Fortunately, they had one spot left for yesterday. I grabbed it and changed gears from a Toy Story party at home to a bounce house party.
Well, as much as I explained that his party was going to be at a fun bounce house place, Micah never grasped that meant he would not have a Toy Story party at home. Even as we were driving home from the Bounce House place last night, he said "I can't wait for my Toy Story party!" We told him his party was the Bounce House and he agreed but still talked about the Toy Story party. Then, when Dan woke him up for church this morning, he told him Happy Birthday and Micah brought up the Toy Story party again!
So, what's a mom to do? I certainly wasn't going to have another party full of people. But, this is his actual birthday and we were going to have cake anyway. So, while he napped, I threw this together.
When your little boy loves Toy Story, it is easy to find toys to go with the theme! And, the cake...well, I ordered a cake for the original party from our amazing baker, Cakes by Elisa. I neglected to cancel the order but when I contacted her about it late in the week, she wanted to still make a cake for our boy. We picked it up last night and kept it hidden from him. When he woke up from his nap, I put his Toy Story birthday shirt on him and told him there was a surprise in the kitchen. Just look at that happy face!
Make a wish, sweet boy!
We had a few presents for him that had come in the mail from our friends in Vidalia and Jackson.
He loved his Legos from Josh, Manna and Eli. Legos make him feel like a big kid.
Jimmy and Cathy sent two things to him but he opened one of them last week. He opened the second tonight while they were on FaceTime. He loves all things Imaginext so this was perfect!
My granny called in the midst of him opening gifts. He was sweet to talk to her but his heart was with those unopened gifts.
We tried to FaceTime with Pops and NeNe in Jackson so he could open their gift but we couldn't get them. So, we saved it for another day. He will happily open a present on a day that is not his birthday.
It was a fun time with our little 4 year old. He loved his Toy Story Party. It didn't matter to him that we were the only guests. He loved the cake. He loved the toys. He loved the presents. It was a really good day for him. (and me!)
