A "Reward"ing Day
What a fun day for Jonah! Today was the culmination of a year of HARD work for him. His school participates in an Accelerated Reading program called Reading Counts. There wasn't a real clear guideline as to how many children would participate in the end of the year reward but Jonah's goal was to make the top 3 in first grade. And, he did. In order to receive a trophy in First grade, you must get 100 Reading Counts points. If you remember, he finished Kindergarten with 101 points. This year, in first grade, he ended the year with 559. I'm so proud of him.
Today was the big reward day. He got to go in a limo ride with other friends who also reached the top. This was his first ride in a limo but according to him, it won't be his last. :-)
Nothing says class quite like rolling into Cici's Pizza in 4 limousines. What better way to make kids happy than a pizza buffet and video games?!?!?
I'm so happy these friends from Mrs. Hoover's class got to experience this together. Jonah has been blessed with such wonderful friends. I'm so grateful for that.
Isn't this a sweet picture of Jonah with his principal? She is retiring this year so I'm glad we got to be there for her last reward ceremony. She's been great for our school. We are all going to miss her.
