Micah's 2nd Birthday Invite

Micah's 2nd Birthday is just a month away.  Since I've been in the bed for about six weeks, I've spent significant time planning and preparing for his party.  Due to his love of Elmo, Abby, Ernie, Bert and Big Bird, we are having a full on Sesame Street Bash!

These precious invites were done by my friend, Jenny of Sparrow Stationery.  The photos were done by my friend, Ann of Ann Axon Photography.  Ann was so very gracious to come over one morning with her kiddos and just snap some photos of Micah that could be used for this invite.  She knew I couldn't do it because of my surgery.

Getting these invitations mailed excites me about the party.  This has been the most fun party to plan.  I have SO many ideas swimming around in my head.  It has been fun thinking about the activities that the little kiddos can enjoy.

Jonah's First Bee Sting

Yesterday was the Walkathon at Jonah's school.  Dan volunteered to help since I couldn't be there.  I got this video from him a couple of hours after he left the house.

Yep, right in the middle of the event, Jonah got stung by a bee.  If you know Jonah, he takes things like this very serious.  We are about 21 hours removed from the bee sting and it is still a very popular topic for conversation.  These are actual things he has said today.

  • This will be the first shower I've had since I got stung by that bee.
  • Micah, when you are outside, you have to watch for bees.
  • Mrs. Beth, what kind of pizza is that?  Wait, did you know I got stung by a bee?
  • This is the chair I sat in after that bee stung me.
  • I rode home with Megan's mom yesterday so I haven't been in our car since I got stung by a bee.
  • I'm wearing a different kind of pajamas tonight since this is a different day from when the bee stung me.
  • Has Max ever been stung by a bee?  I have.  It happened yesterday.
  • I'm not going back to do the walkathon since there were bees there and I got stung.
  • Did you tell Jimmy I got stung by a bee?
At the rate he is going, this bee sting is going to cause him to need therapy.  Or, maybe me!

Missing the entire month

By nature, I'm a fairly organized individual.  I need order or I feel out of control.  People sometimes mistakenly think I'm a clean freak.  I'm not!  I just don't have a lot of clutter around.  I could go a year without dusting my house and probably not be bothered but a few things out of place sends me over the edge.

I'm even this way with my computer.  All of my photos are uploaded into Iphoto by date.  Each month has a folder.  As I blog photos from certain dates, I move that entire folder into the corresponding month.  Once it is there, it has been blogged and is ready for upload to an outside photo sharing site for further  backup.  For the first time in Jonah's life, I noticed something very different the other day.  I went an entire month (September) without taking a single photo with my camera!!!

There isn't one photo or folder dealing with September of 2012.  I took several with my iPhone because that was handy.  But, since I spent the entire month in bed, there were no photos from my camera.  That is very odd for the girl who averages 600 photos a month in each of those folders.

Once I discovered this, I pulled my Nikon out and put it in a visible location.  This momma needs some pictures of her boys in October!!

Jonah's ears

When Jonah was 9 months old, he got tubes in both ears.  Before that, he had numerous ear infections.  After his tubes, he continued to have problems.  He has seen his pediatrician or ENT more times than I can count for ear problems.  Probably 50+ times in his 6 short years.  Today, he saw the ENT for a follow-up visit.  She released him from her care.  Do you hear that?  RELEASED FROM HER CARE!!!!  God healed his little ears!  This mommy is so grateful to Him for that miracle!!

Looking back...

I've been looking through old pictures today and opened the album from September, 2010.  That was just a little bit before Micah was born.  I couldn't help but smile looking back at those last days of us being a family of 3.  These were taken at two of our showers and then at Micah's 3D Ultrasound.

Always listening

While we were out and about on Friday, Jonah randomly sang several songs- including the Batman song.  A while later while we were in Sam's, we noticed Micah repeating the same thing over and over.  We quickly realized he was singing the same song as Jonah.  It just didn't sound exactly the same but he was sure trying.  I started to video him and he quit.  So, Dan sang it once for a reminder.  He continued to sing it the rest of the night.  OVER AND OVER.  I didn't mind though because it was so cute.  I laugh every time I see this!
