Ahhhh...summer vacation 2012, you've been so good to us. And, we are all so sad to see you go. I can't believe we only have one week left of Jonah's summer break. I have at least another month's worth of fun that we could do. Oh well, it is here whether I want it to be or not. So, we are using the last of our break to cram in as much fun as possible. Right now, Jonah has a friend over and I'm watching them play in the pool while I update the blog. Yesterday, we spent the day at the beach.
We have friends in our church who have family with a beach front condo. It is our favorite place to go because of how easy beach days are when you go there. Get this, all we do is SHOW UP with swim suits on. They have lockers in the basement of their building where they keep chairs/toys/boards. They have tons of beach towels. They have picnic lunches waiting on us. They even let us use their showers when we are done so we can ride the 23 miles home CLEAN!!! This is the view out of the bedroom where we changed clothes. Wouldn't you love to wake up to that each morning?
When we finally got them out of the door, we stopped by the lockers to pick up a few toys and beach accessories. Jonah loves picking out his toys for the day.
Micah loved the boogie board this time. The waves were super small this time but he loved them.
We took his puddle jumper just to help keep him afloat. He went under the waves so many times on our last beach day that it kind of scared me. Having the puddle jumper gave me a little peace of mind. With a wild one like Micah, peace of mind always comes in handy.
Dan even took a few (well, a lot!) turns on the boogie board. He wishes the waves would have been bigger though.
I don't know what it is, but Micah has an obsession with putting boxes and baskets on his head. A hat he won't wear but boxes and baskets are a go!
In hopes of shielding him from a little sun, I put his hat on him. It stayed on his head for about 18 seconds. That is a very generous estimate.
The next picture cracks me up. I was standing in the water with my back to the waves. Jonah knew I was using my non-waterproof camera. He yelled "MOMMMMMMY...WAVES!"
This is the view of their condo. They live on the second floor. Before we left for the day, we went to the Penthouse Clubhouse on the 20th floor to see the views. I have some pictures from there. It was so pretty up there.
Towards the end of our beach time, Jonah finally decided he wasn't scared of the boogie board anymore. He had a rough experience the last time we were at the beach and it scared him to try again. But, after much encouragement from all of us, he gave it another try and LOVED it.
After several hours on the beach, we decided to have a little pool time. When we got to the pool, it was empty. We had full run of the entire thing. We swam for close to an hour totally alone. They came down with lunch so we got out to eat and then it filled back up while we were eating.
After a few minutes, the smallest Glenn decided he was D.O.N.E. with pictures. It could have been the lack of nap, or the extreme exhaustion, or the sun in his face, or the big pool staring at him, or...well, you get the point.
We went back into the pool for a little more swim time then it was time to head home.
Before heading out, we took a trip up to the 20th floor to check things out from there.
Looking out across the Intercoastal, you could see the speedway in Daytona. The zoom on my camera brought it way close.
We looked down from the 20th floor to the bottom. The floors are the exact same so it looked so odd. Dan held Micah SO TIGHT when they looked over the edge.
It was a fun day with wonderful end of summer memories. My boys are TOTAL beach bums. Dan even enjoyed it. I'm sure that had something to do with the ease of the whole day. Maybe we can retire in a beach condo after all?!?!? :-)
