Happy Birthday, Aja!

I don't normally do birthday posts (except for Dan, Jonah & Micah) for fear of leaving out someone important to us.  But, I'm breaking the rules today.  And, I can do that since it is my blog, right?  Today, I get to share my birthday with my dear friend, Aja!  You can find her blog here.

Aja is one of the first people who emailed us from Stetson when Dan's name was announced as the candidate for Pastor.  They gave out a brochure that morning with our blog address and email address and she emailed that afternoon to introduce herself.

While we did meet as soon as we got here, we didn't really become friends until a year later.  We knew each other, were in the same circles and attended a lot of events together but weren't really close.  Then somewhere along the way, we got pregnant at the same time.  (She was 7 weeks ahead of me!)  We were both sick.  We both had little boys and were expecting another.  We had many things in common.  Then, one morning she invited me over for a play date.  I remember a very distinct conversation in her kitchen, standing next to her island while pouring a cup of coffee that made me realize she was someone I WANTED to be close friends with.  She was real and honest.  She was outspoken.  She loves her family but most of all she loves Jesus.

And now, I'm one of the lucky ones who get to be her friend.  While we have many similarities in our lives, we are about as polar opposite as two people can be.  But, it works so well!  She challenges me to be a better mom.  Her faith is real and authentic.  She is who she says she is.  She doesn't pretend.  In a world full of fake, I'm glad that she doesn't hide the person she really is.  And, most of all, I'm glad she is my friend.

Happy Birthday, Aja!  I'm blessed for knowing you!  And, I'm glad we get to share our birthday!!

Hollywood Studios

We got Jonah from school a couple of weeks ago and headed to Hollywood Studios for the afternoon and night.  We wanted the boys to see the Christmas lights there.  They are amazing!  But, while we waited for it to get dark, we watched some shows and rode some rides.  We went to the Playhouse Disney show first.  Micah was mesmerized!  Jonah saw this show at 9 months old and was the exact same way!

I attempted to get a cute picture of them in their Christmas shirts.  That is a daunting task these days.  A certain toddler does not like to stop long enough for a photo session.

We walked up on the Jedi Training academy and made a certain 5 year old very happy.  He loved watching that but quickly decided he wanted no part of being on stage participating.

We walked to the section where the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights was about to being.  We were able to be there for the announcement and then the switch on.  It was so fun.  This is one of my favorite things at Disney.

Dan and Jonah took off to see Fantasmic so I hung out with Micah.  I knew it would scare him so we didn't even attempt taking him.  He was quite content to hang with Kermit the Frog while we waited.

It was another fun Disney day with my sweet boys.  It was the first day we had as a family in quite some time so it was much appreciated by all of us.  The boys loved having their dad around and I certainly enjoyed holding his hand as we walked through the park!

Jonah's Kindergarten Feast

The week before Thanksgiving (Yes, I'm that behind!) found us at Jonah's school for the annual Thanksgiving Feast.  They encouraged us to invite grandparents to be there but since ours live so far away, we had a couple of stand-in grandmothers...Susan and Margie.
One of the things I love about his teacher is how she recognizes not everyone can have their grandparents so she calls all of the guests "your special people!"  I love that.  I doesn't isolate those who don't have grandparents present.  Jonah's part in the play was "Pilgrim Minister!"  His teacher told me he asked to be the minister because his daddy is one.  Love it!

That is Jonah with his teacher, Mrs. Myers.  He loves her.  We do too!  I gave her a purse like I have as part of her Christmas gift.  Later on the day of his party, he said "Mrs. Myers opened that gift I gave her and I saw that purse and said "My mommy has that!" and I was glad you have the same purse because you are my favorite two ladies!"  Sweet, huh?

After the performance, we all enjoyed a catered lunch of turkey, dressing and veggies.  It was fun to be there with my little guy and some of his "special people!"  And, thanks to the kindness of Ms. Denise, (Jonah's teacher from last year) we got to enjoy the event without a 12 month baby boy!

Another Sunday, Another Christmas outfit

I was going to wait to post this until the Christmas season was over.  I figured I would just post about all of the outfits Micah (and Miller) wore.  But, last week, I forgot to leave my camera in the nursery for them so I messed up the weekly nursery photo session.  So, I'll just leave you with the first two weeks of Christmas clothes.
