Micah's Monthly Update- Month Eight

8 months have passed since Micah made his grand entrance into our family.  We feel so much love for this little boy and are so proud of him.  He is the sweetest little baby boy I've ever met.  He laughs and giggles 90% of the time.  He rarely cries.  He adores his big brother.  He makes us all laugh.

This was a big month for him because he became mobile.  We are exhausted!  I put a status on Facebook that said something about "not ever getting to sit down again!"  I remember these days with Jonah.  I remember putting toys everywhere and him only being drawn to the my computer cord.  Those days have returned.

Taking pictures of him this month has become increasingly more difficult because he now knows he doesn't have to stay put.  He was constantly pulling up and scooting away from me.

We took you to the doctor yesterday to have your breathing checked and you weighed 21.5 pounds fully clothed.  You wear mostly 6-9 clothes but in Gymboree, you wear 6-12 months.  You are still wearing some 6 month sleepers.  You are in a size 3 diaper.  I think you are ready to move to a size 4 but I have two whole cases of Size 3's we need to use first.  So, stop growing...please!  You still haven't uttered a single word.  Your friends that are weeks younger than you are saying 2-4 words now and you haven't even attempted a word.  I totally get that because both of your parents are the shy and introverted type.  (Yeah, right!)

You are learning to wave but haven't done it on command yet.  You have been getting 3-5 breathing treatments a day and tolerate them about 85% of the time.  Your mattress has been moved to the lowest setting.  You go down for the night between 7 and 8 p.m.  You wake up around 9 or 9:30 a.m.  (Seriously, I adore you for this!)  You aren't proficient yet at getting food into your mouth with your fingers.  You currently have 4 teeth on top and 3 on bottom.

You are a TOTAL fan of your big brother.  You think he is the greatest thing on this planet.  Your entire face lights up when you see him.  And, if he speaks to you or plays with you, you can barely catch your breath because you are so excited.

This last picture is SO fitting because this is what we see most from you these days.  You never stay still and are always on the move.  I can only imagine what the monthly update will say next month.  We love you so much!

Sweet Saturday morning

Passing the Torch (or Elmo)

When Jonah was around a year old, he was obsessed with Elmo.  One night, Debra came down and gave him a gift.  It was an Elmo blanket.  He has kept that blanket by his side since then.  I'm guessing it has been around almost four years.  I tried to search the blog for when she gave it to him but can't find it.  I found MANY posts with the pictures of him with the blanket but nothing telling me the date Beppa gave it to him.
When he gets up each morning, he always brings Lammy and the Elmo blanket out of bed with him.  So, over the course of the day, they are usually in the living room.  Over the past couple of months, he has been playing with Micah and would say something like "I'll let you hold Lammy and my Elmo blanket if you want."  Or, I'll walk in to see Micah with Lammy and wrapped (smothered) in Jonah's Elmo blanket.

Well, a few weeks ago at church, a sweet lady stopped me to tell me she knew how much Jonah loved Superman and she saw a blanket that she just had to buy for him.  I thought that was so sweet.  She took it to Dan's office so he could bring it home to Jonah.  To say Jonah was thrilled would be an understatement!!  Not only was it Superman but it was soft just like the Elmo blanket.  Considering the blanket is his only current attachment to Elmo, I encouraged him to give the Elmo blanket to Micah and for the Superman blanket to be his new blanket.  He was a little motivated to keep both blankets but I explained to him that we don't live in North Dakota and there will probably never be a time that he really needs two blankets on top of his cover at night.  So, he decided to give Micah his Elmo blanket.

It was so sweet to see him pass down his blanket to his baby brother.  Micah still doesn't sleep with things in his crib so Jonah is quite concerned as to why the blanket is in his closet rather than on his bed.  He has only mentioned wanting the blanket back one time.  I asked him if he would rather have Elmo than Superman and he said "Oh, that isn't what I meant.  I meant I wanted both in case Lammy needed a blanket too!"

Pictures from Margie's Camera

If you know my friend Margie, then you probably know that she takes lots of pictures.  But, what you don't know is that she never uploads them to her computer.  (I say never but just this week she created a Facebook album with pictures?!??!)  Anyway, one day when she was here, I uploaded the pictures from one (of MANY) of her memory cards to my computer.  I've never done anything with the pictures but looked through them tonight and decided to post some of them.

These pictures start in December of 2009 (with Dan dancing) and go through October of 2010.  I'll caption a few of them for you.
