VPK Spring Musical

The Spring Musical at Jonah's Preschool was done while wearing pajamas.  Jonah was so excited about this.  He thinks anytime you can wear pajamas in public is a great idea.  And, the fact that he got to stand next to his girlfriend, well, that was just an added bonus.  (Ava is to his left.  He says she is his girlfriend because she wears pretty dresses and headbands!)

Jonah was so lucky to have his Pap and Nana there for the performance.  Just today, he said "I'm so glad Pap is my pretend grandpa.  I love him so much!"  So grateful for people filling roles in the lives of my boys that are void.

Our experience at this preschool has been nothing less than fabulous.  I'm a little bit sad that this was his last program as a preschooler!  Eeeks!

Micah's Monthly Update- Month Seven

The last month was full of firsts and accomplishments for Micah.  It seems he grew by leaps and bounds over the last 30 days.  He can do so much more today than when I wrote this post a month ago.  It seems he is growing so much faster than Jonah did.  I know that isn't true, but it just seems that way.  I guess I'm just more aware this time around.  (And, so much less worried!  It just seems much more stress free with baby #2)

  • All baby food
  • Sleep-  He usually sleeps 12-14 hours at night then takes 2-3 naps per day
  • Leapfrog Learning Table  (Thanks for sharing, Uppercues)
  • Jumperoo
  • Holding Things
  • Bathtime
  • Watching Jonah in the pool
  • Jumperoo & Exersaucer
  • Froggy  (the equal to Jonah's Lammy)
Look at those rolls!!!

Look what I can do

  • The infant carrier
  • Wind in his face
  • Dan singing loud

You can see all four of his teeth

  • Drinking from a sippy cup
  • Drinking from a straw
  • First time in the pool
  • First bite of table food  (Mac & Cheese)
  • First taste of real fruit  (Watermelon)
  • First time at the beach
  • Unprompted, Jonah told Micah he loved him
  • Sitting up on his own, completely unassisted
  • First time to sit in a restaurant high chair
  • First night away from home  (condo at the beach)
Meet Froggy!  I think you'll see lots of him over the years.

My friend died today.  She was my age.  Her little boy is 3 months younger than Jonah.  She wasn't sick.  She just went to sleep last night and never woke up this morning.  Her husband left for work at 5:00 a.m.  He kissed her when he left.  She was still alive.  He came home for lunch at 11:30 and Kason told him that "he couldn't wake Mommy up."  She was gone.  GONE.

She was a wife, mom, daughter, sister, cousin, niece and friend.  My friend.  She was the stand-in at my wedding.  She walked down the aisle with my dad before I did.  She was pronounced as Mr. & Mrs. Robert Daniel Glenn before I was.  Now, she is gone.  GONE.

I'm so sad for her family.  Parents should not bury their child.  I'm sad for her husband.  How hard must it be to go on with life when the other half of you is gone.  I'm sad for her sister.  She is my best friend.  As close as we are, it doesn't come close to her relationship with her sister.  I'm sad for a little boy that doesn't understand why Mommy won't come home tonight.  The same little boy said  "if we pray to Jesus, He will make her better and send her back home."  Tonight, someone will tuck him into bed and for the first time, he'll go to sleep without the comfort of knowing his mommy will always be there.  She's gone.  GONE.

These are the times life doesn't make sense.  This was a busy day for me.  I had a lot to do and a little time to do it.  I had places to be, things to do, talks to prepare, lessons to study, books to read, boys to take care of and issues to deal with.  I was dressing Micah for Jonah's 3:00 ENT appointment and getting out the door on time was all that I had on my mind at that moment.  But, my phone rang and through tears, Hope said "Nicki, she died!  Angie died!"

Death is always so sobering.  But, it really takes on a different feel when it happens to someone whose own life parallels yours.  I've talked to her sister several times since the initial call.  We have laughed at stories about her sister.  We've cried when talking about her.  We've asked questions that can't even be answered right now.  But, my sweet husband summed it up best at church tonight when he said "Angie now knows in reality the very faith that she believed for so long."  So, tonight, I'm trusting in that alone.

Easter Egg hunt with Jaxon

Remember me telling you how I had tons of pictures uploaded just waiting to be blogged.  Well, here we go again.  Welcome to our Easter Egg Hunt at Jaxon's house.  You know, only six weeks later!

Our neighbors invited us over for an Egg Hunt and dinner with their parents the night before Easter.  Jonah and Jaxon are big buds so he is always up for a visit over there.  He loves our neighborhood and the little boys in it.  We feel so blessed to live here and have the relationships with our neighbors.

Kelly totally rocked it by buying a special Star Wars egg decorating kit.  Jaxon isn't into Star Wars so it was just for Jonah.  So sweet of her.

Micah was a little smitten with everything there.  He was all about that cake.

Between lots of eggs, lots of food and lots of laughter, it was a pretty wonderful day!
