MOPS

Micah got to attend his last MOPS meeting on Monday. He got shots Tuesday so he will be in Moppets from now on while I go to the MOPS meeting. Rachel held him for a while. She is due with a little baby girl in April. She has twin boys at home. Our MOPS group has exploded with babies this year. There are lots of new babies and many on the way. How exciting!
We ended our meeting this time with a rousing game of Pictionary. I quickly grabbed my camera so I could document this rather than participate. Unfortunately, my team got stuck with me having to take a turn drawing.

We got Jonah from school, went to lunch with a few church friends, came home for naps then had a little family coloring time. Micah hung out in his bouncy seat while Jonah and I colored. Dan was out running and when he got home, we traded off and I went running and left him home with these two cuties!

I heart stripes...

...and my friend Amanda knows me well! She sent this outfit to Micah for Christmas and I LOVE it! I do love stripes but I really love the little baby boy wearing the stripes! Thanks, Manna!

More about Gator Bowl Weekend

Now that the Gator Bowl is over 2 weeks ago, I feel it is time to finish blogging about it. I wish I could say this will catch me up but I still have Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to do. Whew! Documenting our life sure takes time. I'll get there though...one click of the keyboard at a time.
It was interesting to have a 6 week and 7 week old in the house at the same time. Babies are time consuming and hands on but it was never stressful. Things just clicked and the babies did great. One day they will be big buddies but for now, they just stared at each other. Micah was sweet enough to share all of this things with Maggie and she was sweet enough to not complain about the lack of pink and abundance of blue.
Jonah was just happy to have his "best friend" Rob. When Jonah was almost 6 months old, he met Rob and Melanie for the first time. Although he doesn't remember it, he bonded with Rob that weekend too. But, nothing compared to the love fest this time. He cried his heart out the night he had to tell them goodbye. He has cried a few times since they left. To say he adores Rob is really a huge understatement!

I couldn't blog about Gator Bowl weekend without including this picture. Totally cracks me up! The guys got ready to leave for the parade and battle of the bands in Jacksonville on Friday when we made fun of their coordinating shirts. This was as close as they would stand to each other to avoid looking too friendly. Don't they look all cute a matchy?!?!
And then these two kiddos cracked us up just a few hours later. We were sitting next to the door leading to the patio with both babies. We looked up and they both had these looks on their faces with their pacifiers in the same spot. They were looking at us as if to say "HELP ME GET THAT BACK IN MY MOUTH!"
Micah then fell asleep right there on the floor and slept there for over an hour. Poor baby must have been exhausted! His arm stayed like that for a long time.
The guys got back home and we settled into the night when we heard all sorts of noise outside. Only then did we realize it was New Years Eve and those were fireworks. That's how old we are! Our idea of an exciting evening was snuggling with our new babies and hanging out inside! Whoo-hoo! Party animals! :-)

Dan and Rob went outside to watch then Dan came inside to say "I'm gonna wake Jonah up to see these Fireworks. They are great!" So, he did! Jonah had only been down for a little while but he was already out! Dan woke him and asked if he wanted to go outside to see the fireworks and he quickly said "Sure!"
I hope that is a sweet memory he will cherish. Nothing like getting woken up by your daddy, being wrapped in your Elmo blanket then going outside to see fireworks on New Years Eve. What a sweet daddy!

Meeting Ms. Channell

When I was in college, I lived in Mary Nelson dorm from my junior year through my second senior year. Mary Nelson 112 was my home for those 4 years and I loved it. I came to love the sweet Dorm Mother who lived there also, Ms. Channell. She was so very sweet to me and I grew to love her so much. When I left MC in 1997, I lost touch with her.

Earlier this year, I was doing something around the house when Ms. Channell came to mind. I remembered she was from Florida. I knew she lived in a town called Inverness and that her sons owned a restaurant called Stumpknockers. (How on earth did I remember that??) I looked online and found that restaurant. It had a webpage with a contact number and email address. So, I emailed them and asked about her. Much to my surprise, I awoke the next morning to find an email from my long lost friend.

She was back in Florida and lives less than 90 miles from me. We worked to find a time to visit but I soon discovered I was pregnant and became so sick. Then, as I started to feel a little better, she was diagnosed with cancer and had to have surgery. Then came Micah and the holidays so our visit was delayed again. Once the New Year arrived, I contacted her and asked about visiting on the 5th of January. I had hoped to take Dan and Jonah but if I waited for a time that would work for them too, it would be another month. So, Micah and I loaded up for his first road trip and headed to see my friend.
We met at her son's restaurant, Stumpknockers, which I LOVED. We had a wonderful meal together and I got to meet several of her friends who happened to be there eating also. I also got to meet one of her sons who I heard many stories about over my time in her dorm. And Micah got to taste his first real food...key lime pie! (I'm so a second time mom because that barely stressed me out at all!) ;-)

We hung out there for a while then I got a little tour of their town. We ended up back at her house which sits on a beautiful lake with an amazing view. Jonah will love it there. I can't wait to take him back to meet her and see all the things at her house.

Micah did great on his first road trip. We listened to a Louie Giglio podcast all the way there and back. He seems to like him as much as I do! So far, he has heard a few of Andy Stanley's podcasts and a few of Louie's. His daddy has big shoes to fill when he preaches now!
It was a great day to see an old friend and introduce her to my baby boy. I loved meeting her family and seeing where she lives. Her husband was a pastor so we shared many stories about life as a pastor's wife. It was a good and refreshing visit for my heart.

Off to the nursery

Tonight was a big night for our little guy! He made his debut at Wednesday Night Supper and in the nursery. Minus the Dennis Jernigan concert and the Christmas Eve Service, Micah has been home with me. I'm grateful I did that because he has remained healthy in the midst of cold and flu season. Not to mention the lady that stuck her finger in his mouth and rubbed his gums. Ummm....hello? Who does that to a newborn?? That pretty much sealed the deal for me on not going back to church until he got his shots. That happened yesterday so we were back tonight!

I was so very happy to be back. It has really been much longer than just the 2 months since Micah has been here that I've been absent. I may have been present over the last 9 months but I wasn't myself. I was so sick (and whiny, weak and miserable) that I didn't engage much. I was all I could do just to be there and many times I didn't even make it. It was good to be back and feel like me again.

I meant to take more pictures during dinner but ended up with just one. Melody held him for a while before we headed to the nursery. Of all the times she has seen him, this was their first picture together. I think this is the first time I have seen her since mid December. So, he has really changed since she saw him last.
We headed over to the nursery and I handed him off to Amy, our nursery coordinator. She has been itching to get her hands on him. I love our nursery and the people who work with our kiddos. Amy does a fabulous job so I don't worry at all about him in there. And, as I learned with Jonah, it is so good for kids to learn to love other people and be loved by other people in the church nursery. I'm glad he liked it in there considering he will spend lots of time there over the years to come!
And, being the obsessive picture taking mom that I am, I left my camera and they were kind enough to document his first night in the nursery for me. Which, as you can imagine, I loved!

Micah's little buddy, Emmett was in there tonight too. Emmett is a couple of weeks younger than Micah but they are going to be very close in size. I can't wait to watch these two boys grow up together. I'm sure Lauren and I will look back on this picture one day soon and wish they were that little again. There is one other baby boy in the nursery right now, Miller. He is a couple of months older than these two but weighs less. I hope our boys don't smoosh him when they play together!
I decided to take Micah's stroller so I wouldn't have to carry the heavy carrier plus all the bags plus keep up with Jonah. WISE DECISION!!! I'll be doing that regularly! I don't have Dan to help me get in and out of the car or from place to place once I get on the campus so that came in very handy. I loaded him up to head out and Hannah came over to say her goodbyes. Her mom is our nursery coordinator so she will know "baby Micah" very well!

It was a great night for our little guy...and his mommy! I so enjoyed being back in church and worshipping with my Stetson family. And, I have missed hearing my favorite preacher. I liked him so much, I decided to follow him home tonight! :-)
