MS/LA Visit: Headed Home

Now that we have been home from our trip for 3 weeks, I feel it is time to finally finish this series of posts. Whew! That has taken quite a while. But, I didn't want to leave any of the pictures or stories from our visit out. This was such a wonderful time for Jonah and I'm so grateful we decided at the last minute to make it happen. From seeing two grandmothers, one great-grandmother, lots of friends and many special memories, it was medicine for that little boy's soul! He has talked many, many times since we returned about wanting to go back to "Bidalia" or "Mississippi!" He remembers people vividly now that had begun to fade from his mind due to time. He talks about special times with family. He even tells random strangers about the trip. The timing was perfect for him and I loved seeing him love and be loved on by so many people.

Our flight left around lunch time on Friday. I was SO ready to get home to see Dan. And, traveling when that pregnant isn't the best of ideas so I was ready for the rest. But, I was just fine waiting on that flight because it meant a little time with Pops and NeNe at their house that morning and a YUMMY breakfast made by Pops. He is known for his pancakes and Jonah and I were more than happy to partake of them!

On the way out of their driveway, we stopped to take a couple of photos with Bernice the cow! Bernice dresses up for every holiday so she was fully decked out for Halloween. Jonah thought that was the funniest thing ever. He still talks about "that silly ole dressed up cow."

After a couple of stops with NeNe, we made it to the airport in plenty of time to get checked in, get through security and board our plane. I was more than happy to just sit for a little while. Jonah enjoyed playing his Leapster, doing art projects, reading books and talking really loudly on the flight. We made it to Orlando with no problems. I was so happy to finally be close to home.

We made a stop by the Disney store in the airport to do a little shopping with some money NeNe gave Jonah. He looked and looked and couldn't find anything he had to have. Then, he spotted the Sea World store across the way and found plenty to spend that money on. He settled on a pair of "BEEnoculars" or binoculars as other people call them. Those things entertained him the rest of the day while we waited the three+ hours for Dan to fly in.

I've never been so happy to see my sweet husband. His head was still spinning from a week of class at New Orleans Seminary but we were all together again and that is ALL that mattered!

Almost done

We are inching closer to the completion of both boy's rooms. Jonah loves to spend time with us in Micah's room when we are working in there. He is especially fond of the rocker/recliner we bought for that room. I'm wondering how long it is going to take him to realize that we need to use that chair with Micah once he arrives. Because, as of now, Jonah has claimed it. We are down to the last couple of details in the nursery then I can post pictures.

Jonah's room is done withe exception of a rather large package his NeNe mailed him today. And, by large, I mean the UPS man is gonna hate us. She sent Jonah a special chair and I can't wait to see it in his room. That will complete his room and we can post pictures of that too. Both pictures that Kathy did arrived last week and Dan got those hung. Jonah was especially proud of his!

So, stay tuned for pics of the completed rooms. I'll be glad to have both of those things scratched off my to do list!

MS/LA Visit: Day Six

Thursday was another super busy day! All of the getting in and out of the car WIPED ME OUT! The tiredness came more from getting Jonah and in and out of his car seat than it did me getting in and out. I'm so grateful for the invention of car seats but on that day, I wasn't very fond of them.

I got to surprise one of my long time friends at work. She had no idea I was in town and almost didn't recognize me when she came to the front. It was fun to see her reaction and then visit with her some. Teresa and I worked for Dr. Ramsey for man years. Then, when I took a new job, she came with me a little later. She was the Matron of Honor in our wedding and just an overall good friend to me for MANY years. I'm so glad I got to see her and hug her even though it was for a short time.

We left her office to meet NeNe (Denise) for lunch at Cheddars. Apparently, she and Jonah had serious business to discuss!
We left there and headed to GiGi's cupcakes. I have only one thing to say about that. YUMMY!

We the sugary goodness of GiGi's cupcakes and headed to Byram to visit my friends at Dr. Ramsey's office. Would you believe I didn't take one picture? They were actually done with patients for the day so I got to visit with Charles and Janice for a couple of hours. That was great. I left there just in time to get to Dan's mom house for dinner and family time!

Jonah was thrilled to see his GiGi. He had been talking about her all day and was ready to see her and play at her house. She has been to visit us in Florida a couple of times for a week each time and he has grown especially attached to her. So, he was happy to see her and "reconnect!"
Not long after we arrived, Darla and her family got there. Darla is due with Rachel just a few days after Micah is due. We are both R-E-A-D-Y to have the babies and feel normal again. She and I were pregnant with our boys at the same time but she was about 3 months ahead of me. So, it has been interesting to walk this road with her this time since we are due days apart.
The boys had SO SO SO much fun together. Jonah has talked about Gavin so many times since we got home. Times like this make me so sad that we live so far apart from cousins. I wish they could grow up together like I did with my cousins.

It was a great night with Dan's family, just a little too short! I also hate that Dan didn't get to be there with us. But, Jonah had a blast and I loved being with his mom and family. Good times.

Just another random Monday

***I know you have already seen pictures of him in HIS glasses but I just realized I never posted about this day a few weeks ago. So, thus the back track!***

A few weeks ago, Jonah and I headed to Wal-Mart to check out their selection of frames. We had been somewhat unsuccessful at the other places we looked. I think the time we gave him helped him accept and process the fact that he did have to have the glasses to help him see better. He was more than happy to try on as many as I handed him. There were several we found that day that would have worked for him. He was even a little silly as he tried them on for me. It was SUCH a different attitude than I had experienced in the other tries.

After we settled on the pair we liked and got those ordered, we stopped by the church office to see Dan. He had a funeral that morning and couldn't go with us to pick the frames out. So, I took the camera in to show him what the winning pair looked like. Jonah was much more interested in helping him work than he was talking about the glasses we ordered.

While we were in his office, Jonah spotted some floss and asked Dan to floss his teeth. Then, he instructed me to take his picture. So, fine ya go! A picture of Dan flossing Jonah's teeth while at work! Our lives really are riveting, huh?
When Dan got home from work, I was finishing up dinner so they went outside to ride Jonah's bike. He has recently tried to revert back to only riding his tricycle. We keep trying to convince him that he is a big boy and needs to ride his big boy bike. After many tears, Dan let him ride his tricycle for a little bit but then took his bike to him. Jonah wanted him to ride too. Obviously, those little things hold more weight than they claim to hold.

Bounce House fun

Way back WHENsday

Today, Jonah will have surgery to remove the tube that was placed in his ear when he was just 9 months old. It is almost unheard of for a tube to still be in place after this long but one of Jonah's is. So, we have an appointment with an ENT at the surgery center and he has to be sedated for a 5 second surgery. Yep, 5 seconds and $1100 later, the tube will be removed and he will begin the 6 month recovery process for that ear. Then, I'm quite sure we will have to have tubes inserted again.

So, in honor of today, I thought I'd post pictures from April, 2007 when Jonah had his tubes placed. It broke my heart to hand my 9 month old baby boy over to them but he did great then and I'm sure he will do great again today! You can read all about that day but clicking HERE.
