Jonah/Micah comparison

So, what do you think? See a resemblance between the brothers? Click on the picture to see it larger.

A sweet glimpse of Micah

We just returned home from getting a glimpse of our baby Micah. They also did a video that you can see after you view these pictures. The entire session was videoed and set to music. 99% of you will be bored with it after the first minute but since this blog is a great way for our family to document memories, I am posting it here. Well, that and the fact that I'm sure my mom won't mind sitting through the entire 20 minute video!

The video is embedded below. It is 20 minutes long and set to music. The actual ultrasound begins around 32 seconds.

Stripes

I have been going through Jonah's clothes to see what will work for Micah. Since they will be 4.5 months apart, some of the stuff just isn't going to be usable because of seasons. I'm trying to determine now what will work so it can be washed and ready.

Jonah has been so intrigued by every item I pull out of the storage bin. He picks up everything and asks what it was for, what he was doing when he wore it, etc. When he got to this striped outfit, I told him it was one of my favorites. I told him to put it on and he quickly told me he was too big. So, he just held it up for me instead. Hard to believe this cutie ever wore this but I'm excited to see the next little Glenn boy put it on.

Way back WHENsday

Some of my most favorite photos ever taken of my little guy. Jami Ainsworth did these in September of 2008. Such a great depiction of our Louisiana life!

Don't ask!

We have always been very careful about not buying things for Jonah every time we walk into a store. From the time he was born, we put things away that he received as gifts and pulled them out at different times so he would learn to appreciate things. When he got 30 toys at once during a holiday, we could not figure out how to let him have all of them and teach him appreciation and moderation all at the same time. So, as you long time blog readers know, we have always done toy rotation of his current toys as well as toy ration of his new toys.

Last year for our anniversary, Dan's mom kept Jonah for us to go out of town. She took him to Walmart and called us to say she was amazed that he never asked for one thing the entire time they were there and she almost had to convince him to let her buy him something. We were so proud of him because we had really worked on that.

Well, it seems in the last 3-4 months, he has learned to expect something each time we walk into a store. It doesn't matter what kind of store it is or even if we have arrived there yet. As soon as he hears the words mall, store or shop, he immediately asks "Can I have a special surprise?" While I am grateful that we had 4 years of freedom from asking for things, it is already quite annoying.

So, we started telling him that if he ever asks for a special surprise then that automatically means he doesn't get one. We have had to use some tough love a couple of times when we went somewhere with the full intention of getting him something and when he asked, we had to say no. (By the way, a special surprise is anything from a toy, stickers, a favorite kind of snack, things for his lunch or the free cookie from the deli)

Yesterday, I picked him up from school and told him we had several errands to run. He very matter of factly said "Mommy, today I am going to need to get a special surprise but don't worry, I did not ask for one. I'm just telling you that I need one!" So, would you have let him off on technicality? That boy! He cracks us up! He was totally serious. All he knows is that he is not supposed to ask. And, he didn't! He told!

Baby Shower Sneak Peek

I had the MOST wonderful shower today that I can't wait to share with all of you but I don't have the pictures yet. Margie was kind enough to share these with me so I could give you a peek but you have no idea just how incredible this shower was until you see the pictures that are to come from my awesome photog friend.

I walked into the room and it just took my breath away. Seriously, I can not wait for you to see! So, for now, enjoy the picture of the beautiful cake and a few shots of my sweet first born son from Margie's camera. He and Dan arrived the last 30 minutes and Jonah enjoyed every single moment of it.
