Hanging Out on the Bilirubin Bed

Micah's bilirubin level was up so he spent his last day in the hospital on the Bilirubin bed trying to bring those levels down. He handled it well for most of the day but sometimes, he just wanted to be held. We took turns patting him, singing to him and talking to him. He would always settle down when we got close. We could only take him off the bed to feed him. I was itching to hold him and love him but knew it was best to leave him there in hopes of him getting well enough to come home.

He started getting small amounts of mommy milk through a syringe and loved it. Since he couldn't be off the bed long, I would pump and feed that to him quickly so we could get him back in the bed.

It was hard to put him straight down after feeding him so Dan would burp him and snuggle with him just a little bit before he went back to the bed.

I've heard of a bouncing baby boy, but you have a glowing baby boy :). Glad he was able to come home after his day on the bilirubin bed.
