We picked Jonah up from school Friday and headed into Orlando to see the Mouse. Our Disney passes expire December 29 and we don't plan to renew them next year so we are trying to take advantage of every opportunity we can to let Jonah get his Disney fix. This was the day before the big MSU/FL game so Dan wore his MSU garb in support of his favorite team.
It took us a little longer to get into the park this time because our passes got washed in the washing machine after our last trip. So, we had to get new ones at the TTC before getting on the Monorail. They gave Jonah a map and immediately went into full map mode. He SO takes after Dan's mom's side of the family where maps are concerned!! They have taught me so much about maps since I joined that family back in 1998!!
We don't often stop for the typical tourist pictures at the parks anymore but since this would probably be our last Disney trip as a family of 3, I wanted to be sure to document that. And, it didn't hurt that the fall decorations were out and that is my most favorite time of year at Disney. Christmas there is beautiful but I love the fall decor so much.
We went straight in and let Jonah ride a couple of the big rides before we met our friends. We headed back towards Main Street to meet them only to discover the Move It Shake It Street Party. We walked up on great seats for that and just enjoyed sitting for a while. Oh wait...maybe that was just me that enjoyed the sitting?
I packed several of Jonah's frozen juice boxes and threw them in the bottom of his stroller. I didn't think through the fact that it wasn't really hot enough to melt them quickly. As you can see, he had a little trouble getting juice through the straw.
We sat there for just a few minutes more when we spotted our friends heading towards us. Jonah had been asking for Sara Madalin ALL day and it appears she was looking forward to seeing him too!
The next picture is one of my all-time favorites. How very sweet is this? And, it is such a reminder to me of the goodness and faithfulness of our God. The four of us (Reagan, Malinda, Dan and I) all wanted a child so bad and prayed and waited. In HIS time, God granted us the desires of our hearts and this picture is a testimony of two of the greatest blessings he has ever given us. And, it doesn't hurt that they are too stinkin' cute!!
And, you can't go to Disney without an iconic "creepy stalker guy" picture with Dan. He seems to make his way into at least one picture each visit.
Towards the end of the night, the other three adults headed to Space Mountain to use their Fastpasses and I had my first experience as a mom of two. It was a breeze. Jonah pushed Sara Madalin's stroller while I photographed everything. Surely it will be this easy when Micah arrives next month. What? No? Just let me think that, okay?
When we stopped to look at something, he would move right next to SM and hold her hand "so she wouldn't be scared!" He really is so gentle and sweet with little ones. He tends to have the 'Only Child Syndrome' where his toys are concerned but I wonder if that is less about being an only child and more about being a child who likes and needs order and control. He doesn't have much of an issue sharing but it is more when something of his gets messed up?
I took the two of them into Philharmagic and for the ten minute wait, we were the only two in the theater waiting area. By the time we were seated, there were only 15 or so people in there. That is my most favorite show at Disney and I knew it would be easy to entertain two kiddos at once in a contained area.
We had a great, great time (as usual) with the Browns. We moved here in September of 2009 and have seen them in October, November, December, May and then again last week. Their passes expire so we will see if they really like us for us or if Disney was the only draw. I'm trying not to get my hopes up that it was us. ;-)
We made it home around 1:00 a.m. and Jonah went right to bed! We took his pajamas and changed him before leaving the parking lot. He grabbed Lammy and was OUT just minutes into the 50 minute drive home. He slept until almost 10:00 a.m. on Saturday so we got to recover a little bit too! It was a great night!
