Saturday of the move

We got up early Saturday morning and headed towards Florida. We stopped at the Welcome Center to get some pictures of Jonah in front of the Welcome sign. Unfortunately, it was raining! You can see the "ironic" post I did that day by clicking HERE.

We played at the Welcome Center for a little while just to let Jonah run off some energy. We even had some free Orange juice.

Our plan was to drive to Tallahassee and stop for the night. I did an Internet search to find something fun to do. I discovered the Challenger Planetarium and knew it was a must do for Jonah. If you know him well, you know he LOVES the moon. People in Vidalia now call it "Jonah's moon" when they see it at night. He is obsessed with the moon!

We bought tickets to the afternoon show and could not wait for Jonah to see all the stars and planets on the ceiling. He was quite impressed. The most precious thing happened while we were there. The movie was showing on the ceiling and it was VERY quiet in the room. All of the sudden, our little guy, at the top of his lungs started singing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star!" Man, talk about melting your heart. Dan & I both just giggled and tried to hush him but it was so stinkin' sweet that we hated to make him stop. He was so sincere!!

We left the planetarium and Jonah was OUT before we were out of the parking garage. We wore that little guy out!

Jonah + Greg + Fish = Good times!

So, this post is a little late but I've had some things going on this summer, ya know? One afternoon, Jonah spent time over at Greg & Cindy's house. (aka PaPaw & NeNe) Kassi captured these pictures for me and we put them on a jump drive and I just remembered them. goes! Be sure to watch the video at the end. (Reed, that is just for you!!)

"This Hand"

Many times this week, Jonah has come to us to say something he did wrong or a way he disobeyed but he never takes responsibility for it. He will say "this hand threw my pop tart on the floor" or "this hand found this toy in the toy box and brought it in here" or "this hand played a game on your phone but I told it you said no!" He is convinced that "this hand" has no connection with his body.

Foley Playground

We took many opportunities on our way to DeLand to stop for Jonah to have some play time. We tried to make this trip as easy as possible on him. I think we accomplished that goal because he never cried about being in the car too long or asked to get out. SUCCESS! The outlet mall at Foley has a nice play area so we stopped there before heading back from our time with the Hargon's. I watched him play then I saw a little boy who looked familiar. Then I noticed his mommy who looked VERY familiar on the other side of the slide. I was so shocked to see Calley Reed and her boys there playing. It is always odd to see people out of place like that. I did a double take because I expected her to be in Vidalia, not Foley!
Jonah had a blast playing with her three boys, Josiah, Isaac and Emmaus. He was sad to see them leave because he "had to show them tricks!" And, just for all of you who know me well, you would be surprised to know I was at the outlet mall all that time and did not shop. Nope! I was all about my little boy on the playground!! Wow...times change!

First Wednesday

I am sitting comfortably for the first time today. My morning started with nothing to sit on since we had no furniture. Then, around 10:00 a.m., a big orange truck turned on to our street and our day took a turn towards all out craziness! I am exhausted, happy, tired, joyful, excited, touched and achy all at the same time.

If you could see my house right now, you would see sheer and utter chaos. Only one room has any semblance of normalcy. My desire was to get Jonah's room as finished as possible on day one so that he would have a place of refuge. Thanks to my new friend Kathy, that is done! She got here, took a box cutter and did some serious work for us!

Jonah stayed at school for aftercare today until 2:30 p.m. He loves it there (don't worry, I haven't forgotten to post about his new school or his first day!) and would probably have way more fun there than here in this confusion. Dan picked him up and he walked in to check out his room and grinned from ear to ear. He loved seeing his things in his new house.

He wasn't here long before Stephanie Barker picked him up. This is his second day to spend with her this week. (a big picture post coming from Monday with Steph!) He loves Miss Stephanie and Misser Bob so he was thrilled to head out with her. We met him at church and he wanted to sit with them. We happily obliged. That is such an answer to prayer for us. Jonah was so connected at FBCV that we worried about his adjustment here. People like Bob and Steph have been incredible to him and he feels at home with them already.

Stetson has a very active Wednesday night program. There is something going on for every age. While we were in the interview process, Dan asked what the expectation of him on Wednesday nights would be. There is already a retired minister who leads the adult Bible Study. While they would love Dan to come in a teach them, they also recognize the need for him to visible throughout the campus. So, we devised a plan to work through every area of ministry on Wednesday nights so we could see what happens in each area and get to know the people involved there.

We started tonight in the nursery. Yep, we waltzed right into the nursery and found Mequel, our nursery coordinator. She assumed we were there to check on Jonah. We told her that we were there to work and that she could put us anywhere she needed us. From the look on her face, she has never known a pastor to work in the nursery. We walked in and Dan immediately got on the floor with the toddlers. Jonah would have flipped out had he known his daddy was across the hall with other kids!

We spent the entire time in there. Dan was on his hands and knees playing with kids while I got the grand tour from Mequel then I ended up in the baby room. It was a great night for us and a wonderful opportunity to love on some kids and get to know their parents. Next week we will move to the children's ministry.

***There was one really cool thing that happened today that totally made me cry. (In a good way!) But, it deserves a post of it's own and I can't find my camera right now for the picture.***

Church Signs

Fun with Granddaddy

Sorry I can't offer any explanation on these pictures. Dan took my camera with him so he will have to come back and blog about these later. (Yeah, right!!!)
