Whew! Exhausted does not begin to cover how the Glenn family feels right now. I am typing this blog post as I hear Jonah wailing as Dan tries to console him. His current unhappiness comes from us turning the water on when he brushed his teeth rather than him doing it himself. Poor guy! He is just so tired! Fortunately, he is getting in the bed only 40 minutes past his regular bedtime as opposed to 3 and 4 hours late as he has done this entire week. We keep reminding ourselves that Jonah is only 3 years old and can't keep the pace we can. He sure tries though!
Everything we own is currently on an Allied truck somewhere in the Southeast! The driver and his team left yesterday afternoon and plan to meet us in DeLand next week to deliver. Jonah and I said goodbye to the only home he has ever known yesterday morning around 11 and left Dan to take care of all the final details. The craziness of the morning was just a little more than Jonah could handle so we headed out earlier than expected. That was a very good decision because it gave us a chance to stop several times and let him just run and play.
Our last stop on the way out of town was at Natchez Pediatric Clinic. We had to pick up Jonah's records and tell her goodbye. Jonah got and gave big hugs to everyone and left with a sticker and a sucker as if he had seen her for a visit! She gave him a gift all wrapped in pretty paper but he wanted nothing to do with it. He wanted that sucker and sticker!!! She gave me the most precious card and it started the tears as I headed out of town. What a wonderful friend she has been to me!!
Jonah & I made it Fairhope, AL around 7:15 last night. Our two night stop is at Granny & Granddaddy's house. Jonah was so fired up when he got here that he didn't go to bed until after 11:30 p.m. Dan got here around 10:45 p.m. so that gave them some time to play together.
After a morning at the Fairhope pier and feeding ducks and seagulls, we headed into Foley to meet The Hargon family at Lamberts Cafe and then spend the rest of the day with them. We had a fabulous time and hated to say goodbye. We got to know them after Dan led Josh to Christ a few years ago. What a blessing that friendship has been to us. It stinks saying goodbye to good friends but we know we will see them soon!
We are leaving here early tomorrow morning and heading east towards Tallahassee! We will check in to our hotel then go find something fun to do with Jonah for the rest of the day. We are trying to give him many opportunities to run and be a kid because his life is going to be crazy when we arrive in DeLand!
To our new friends there, thank you so much for your emails, texts, facebook messages and calls about our arrival. We so appreciate your offers of help, the meals you are providing and the love you are showing us already. We are so excited that our journey leads us to you! You have blessed our lives and hearts already! See you soon!
