My Mother's Day Gift!!!!

Ahhhh....I love that my husband has some technological capabilities. He gave me an AWESOME Mother's Day Video that he edited. He took random video from Jonah's first day home through his first few steps and edited it to Colby Caillat's Bubbly. What a perfect gift!!!

Clothes are funny!

Jonah was downstairs at the plant with Jimmy (used to be CHIM now he is Mimmy!) and apparently had a large time with the old rack of unclaimed clothes. Jimmy came upstairs to my office and told me I had to come down and see this. Fortunately, I had my camera. He thinks Jimmy is magic!

Bye-Bye

MY DADDY IS HOME!!! MY DADDY IS HOME!!! Yay! He got home after 1:00 this morning. He would have been home a few hours earlier but he stopped at UMC in Jackson to see Patrick Smith in the hospital. Even though it was the middle of the night, he came into my room and picked me up and just rocked for a little while. I think he missed me more than I missed him. (I bet it was a close tie!!!)

These are pictures my mom took before daddy left Sunday night. It was way past my bedtime but mommy let me stay up until daddy got home from church at 9:00 so he could see me for a little while before heading out. I finally went to bed and he left at 9:30 that night. Here are the pictures of us right before he left!

Random Pictures from yesterday

Here I am pointing to the CD player in my room. Every morning, I point to it and say "sic." (You know, for muSIC?) My mom keeps saying "MUUUUsic!" She is trying to get me to say th whole word but the way I see it, she knows what I'm talking about now, so why put forth the effort?
Yesterday morning, before we left for work/school, I picked up my mom's camera and took it to her. She tried to put me down to take my picture but I was a bit clingy. So, we took a picture in the mirror of daddy's bathroom. Mommy looks WAAAYYYY too happy in this picture!
Then I was a really sweet boy and put my head on her shoulder. Everyone seems to love it when I do that so I try to do it often in order to win brownie points.
I kind of got into the mirror thing and we started making funny faces. This is our scowl face! Mommy held the camera out to take this one and chopped off most of her head. HA!
Me and my mom cleaned their bedroom really good yesterday. (Well, really just mommy cleaned but I was there to lend emotional support!) This is me looking like such a little boy in the midst of that process!
Then I distracted mom from the cleaning by climbing on to her bed. You can see a video of that somewhere in a recent post on this blog! The silly dog decided he wanted mom's attention. He jumped up towards the camera right as she snapped the picture of me. He may be permanately blind in that eye since the flash was so close.

I love this little dog! He sure barks a lot and drives my mom and dad crazy a lot of the time but he makes me so happy!
Hey, look! I found one of my mom's shirt on the bed. It is great to play peek-a-boo with! That game cracks me up EVERY time!

When we got to church, Mr. David gave my mom her pie holder back. I thought that was a pretty fun thing to play with. I even took it to Tommy (a.k.a. Taddy or Mommy) so he could see it. I don't think he has ever seen my mom transport a pie to anyone so he wanted to see if it was a real pie holder!

It's official...

Well, it is official! I have my first skinned knee! Yep, not only did I bang up my knee, I hit my head on the concrete too! And, believe it or not...it wasn't my fault! It was MOMMY!!!! Yes, you read that right. And no, she didn't push me!

We were walking from her class to the nursery before Sunday School. Off to the left, I spotted my daddy and took off for him. Mommy knew he was busy so she tried to divert my attention. She said "RUN, RUN, RUN, RUN." That is code for "We are about to have some serious fun!" You see, anytime I hear "RUN, RUN, RUN, RUN" said really fast, I know someone is about to chase me so I take off running! Well, this time, I tripped over my own two feet and fell on the concrete. I hurt my knee and my head!

Bag, Bag, Bag

I had a return to make at Office Depot Monday night. I got Jonah out of his carseat and then grabbed the bag. The kid went crazy saying "Bag, Bag, Bag." He wanted to be the one to carry it in. And, that he did!!! He walked right up to the counter and handed it to the lady then said "Thank You!" Ahhh...all those manners lessons are starting to pay off!!!

Sleeping with Brown Bear

When I put Jonah in the bed for his afternoon nap, he looked at me and said "Brown Bear...PEASE!!!" Of course, I gave it to him. I mean, he asked SOOOO sweetly! I gave him a kiss then went to the living room to watch him on the monitor. He turned to each page and pointed out the animal on that page, then gave the book a kiss and said "Night-night!" Awwww...how sweet is that? I went back a little while later and snapped these pictures. Seriously...I adore this kid!

Bathtime (and one other picture!)

This is the serious look I gave my mom when I was on the changing table Monday morning. I kept staring at her like this saying nothing. I think it kind of freaked her out. She kept saying "What's wrong?" Umm....nothing! Sometimes a kid just needs to think!

Josh, Manna and Sue came over to play with me Tuesday night since my daddy was out of town. Sue took me to the back to give me a bath the called us back there. She said I was diving under the water and I was DEFINITELY ready for swim lessons.
Notice Josh and Manna looking on? How would you feel if someone stared at you in the bathtub? I'm so going to their house to watch them take a bath!!! (Actually, I didn't mind at all because I was putting on a show for them!!! I'm such and entertainer!)

We miss daddy!

Dan left Sunday night at 9:30 p.m. headed to Atlanta for the DRIVE 08 conference at Northpoint Community Church. While I have missed him SO much, his little boy is completely lost without his daddy. Every time someone comes to the door, Jonah runs to Dan's recliner and jumps in it. He gets a huge grin on his face and starts yelling "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy!" They play the "beat you to my chair" game numerous times each day. He is really missing that game.

He also knows that Dan is the one to usually get him out of bed in the morning. We have a little routine where I lay out Jonah's clothes, shoes, socks, and diaper and then Dan gets him out of the bed, washes his face, cleans his ears, brushes his teeth and dresses him while I am in the shower. The last 2 mornings have been so confusing for him. He keeps asking "where daddy?"

Dan called last night while Jonah was still awake. I put the phone on speaker phone so he could talk to Jonah. When Jonah heard his voice, he grabbed the phone and kissed it. Talk about melting your heart! When I finally took the phone from him, he cried because he wanted to talk more to his daddy!!!

I'm so fortunate to be married to man who loves his family so much. Because of his great love for us, we feel so lonely when he is not here. I'm so happy he is learning so much at his conference but I can't wait to see him this time tomorrow night.

Yesterday

This has been a very busy weekend for us. Between meetings, old friends visiting town, weddings, showers, tragedy in our church family and just a regular Sunday, Jonah barely saw his daddy at all. I realized he was really missing him when he said "Where daddy? Why?" I think what he was trying to say was "Why haven't I seen my daddy?" It makes me sad to think there are going to be lots of weekends like this in our little boy's life. Dan's job sometimes creates times of extreme busyness. Sometimes I wish for a normal 8-5 job but I'm so happy he is doing what God has called him to do. It is fun to see him live out his passion! Fortunately, his job does provide for some flexibility that normal 8-5 jobs don't always offer. So, there is a trade off!

Our friends (and former youth minister & family) Brian & Trudie were in town visiting from Houston. The Stagg's had several people over to their house yesterday to see them. We were supposed to be there at 3 p.m. I got home from the baby shower about 3:15 p.m. and was fully prepared to grab my family and head out. I walked in the door to discover my baby boy was still sound asleep! We knew he would spend a lot of time outside playing so we just let him sleep until he woke up. After 4 hours, he FINALLY woke up and we headed over to the Stagg's house.

Max REALLY wanted to go with us. So, we let him take a picture with me and Jonah. I don't think that is what he was really going for. Jonah did like the fact that Max was up high like him. He just giggled at that.

When we got there, we were happy to see Caroline had a ball out. Delynn played with Jonah & Caroline with the ball. Unfortunately, one of the kids (MINE) was a ball hog so we had to go in search of another ball so they could each have one of their own.

Shortly after we arrived, it was time to eat. Jonah put his ball down long enough to pray with everyone else. (Although, he did peek!)

Taylor was full from the wedding reception so she entertained Jonah by the pool while I ate. Dan wasn't there because he was called to the hospital. A lady in our church died from a blood clot. She was only 38 years old and left behind a daughter in high school and a son in middle school. SO SAD! He ended up missing 95% of the party but everyone there did their part in helping me corral my busy little boy.

Dorothy Ames found 2 friends by feeding them ice. Jonah was quite impressed with ice on that hot afternoon. He even talked about the ice on the way home She ended up with Jonah as her shadow for most of the day.
The hit of the day was definitely the Stagg's bunny. It roams free in the back yard and Jonah was oh so impressed! He kept calling the bunny Max. I guess he thinks all animals are Max.

Tapper tried to catch the bunny so Jonah could pet it. But, that bunny was a little quicker than our new Chief of Police.
Suzanne went inside and got carrots in hopes of enticing the bunny to come out of hiding. She split the carrots between Jonah & Caroline.
Jonah ate his carrots! We can't get the kid to eat a carrott at home but you give him carrots for the bunny and those he eats! AAAUGHH!!

He was going to share his carrots with Kristin Hendricks but quickly decided to keep them for himself when he thought she might actually take them. He is such an indian giver sometimes!

After much patience on Suzanne's part, the bunny finally made another appearance. Jonah was so intrigued by the bunny.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this next picture. I always like it when I capture him smiling without being prompted. That was a genuine, heartfelt smile. He was as happy as any little boy could be at that moment!

He came over to have a little conversation with Whest Shirley. I'm not sure what he was telling Whest but he was serious about it. Oh, and notice how dirty his back was? The kid did some serious playing!!

Check out the sweet look he was giving Delynn! I'm not sure what she was saying to him but he sure gave her a sweet face to look at while she said it.
Suzanne was telling us about a problem they had with the pool pump this week. She hoped to have the pool ready for Caroline but the pump went out. Jonah didn't care that the water wasn't ready...he was ready to get in! I'm so anxious to see how he does with a pool this summer. He loved the water last summer but this year may be a different story.
Caroline saw Jonah and Suzanne by the pool and she kept a watchful eye on them at all times. If they were getting in then so was she!

We had a great time with everyone but were so exhausted when we left. Jonah went home, had dinner and a bath and was OUT!!!! Poor guy...he was so tired!
