Santa Claus...Take Two

The Comfort Suites had "Breakfast With Santa" this morning. My parents thought I might appreciate Santa more the second time around.

We walked in and Gavin ran right to Santa. He LOVED him. He crawled right up in his lap and didn't have one meltdown. I watched that but was still very tentative around the big guy in red. I clung to my daddy and immediately started whimpering. We got even closer and the meltdown began.

So, they decided to sit down and eat and let me watch other children talk to Santa. Gavin kept running right over to Santa and talking to him. Not me...I stayed in my daddy's lap where I knew it was safe.

After a while, my mom went all the way to the wall and sat in a chair and watched Santa. She called me over and I ran to her and sat in her lap. The next think I know, we are sitting on the floor up against the chairs.

Then, little by little, we inched closer to Santa. All the while, he was talking to me and saying my name. I was a little intrigued by him. The next thing I know, we are sitting right next to him and people every where were snapping pictures. Apparently, this was a breakthrough for me.

He was very nice and gave me a candy cane. So, I walked away then went back and gave him my cup of juice. Nice, huh?
He was nice enough to give it back to me. He is a jolly old soul. I think if he didn't have that big ole beard that I might actually like him.

While we were there, my friend Olivia came to see Santa. She liked Santa about as much as I did the first time. You can click here to read about that.
Santa was being very nice to me so I decided to show him my coloring book. He wanted me to come closer to show it to him but I stayed a nice distance just in case he tried to put me on his lap like the last time I saw Santa.
Gavin ran up to Santa to get another candy cane so I decided it was okay to get closer.
My mom says this is her favorite picture of the morning Apparently, it was fun for our parents to see us looking up at Santa. (They sure are impressed by little things, huh?)

As you can see, I got a candy cane from Santa and was feeling pretty good about the day. Then, out of nowhere, my mom picks me up and puts me in his lap. This is how my day with Santa ended!!! Mommy says if we could see under that beard then we would probably see Santa making the same face as me! :-)

Hanging out with The Byrd's

Guess what? Aunt Darla bought Santa hats for all 4 of the children. She gave mine to Gavin and he was going to give it to me.
And then, he was going to take it back.
But, Aunt Darla made him give it back and I am now the proud owner of my very own Santa hat!

Uncle Chris, Aunt Darla and Gavin got here this afternoon. I was happy to have another person to read books to me. Aunt Darla read "Brown Bear" to me while I wore my new hat she gave me.

Then, Gavin & I played with Max. We both gave him hugs and kisses. I don't think he was all that impressed with either of us.

I went to LaFi tonight with my mom, Uncle Chris, Aunt Darla and Gavin. My dad wasn't with us because he had to referee a soccer game. Both Gavin and I really like lemons but you won't be able to tell that by the looks on our faces. When the tea came, we got the lemons off of the glasses. Even though they were WAY sour, we ate them anyway and got lots of laughs from the parents!!!

My life is SOOOO hard!

This is the face I make when they put me in the highchair when I don't want to be. Sometimes I would much rather play than eat. In those times, I whine in hopes of being removed from the high chair. Then, when they don't take me out, this is what I do.

My parents seem to think that eating is good for me and they force me to do it even when I would rather do other things. I am SOOO telling Santa on them because they are not being very good to me.

The Nativity Story

When we were in Alabama for Thanksgiving, Laura & I ran to Wal-Mart for batteries. While at Wal-Mart, I saw the coolest Little People Nativity set. I almost bought it but changed my mind at the last minute. On the way home to LA, I told Dan about it. He said he wished I had gotten it because all the other Christmas decorations are off limits to Jonah. That would be something he could play with and enjoy during the holidays. So, I began a search for the set. It was NO WHERE TO BE FOUND! I had lots of people on the lookout for this set. Then, out of the blue, I got an email from Fisher Price saying the set was 25% off. I ordered it immediately and could not wait for it to come in.

It finally showed up at the door on Wednesday. I put it on the coffee table so Jonah could reach it and play with it. After church, Dan sat on the floor and told Jonah all about the significance of the Nativity story and about baby Jesus' birth.

After that sweet, tender moment, we let Jonah play. As you can see in the video below, the significance of Mary, baby Jesus and the Wise Men was completely lost on this 16 month old fella! Oh well, there is always next year!!!

Time to go?

When it was time to leave for Church Sunday, mommy said "Jonah, it is time to go!" Well, I grabbed my things and met her at the door. I decided I couldn't leave Lammy, L.E. Phant, blankie or my sippy cup behind. So, I had them all! Mommy nixed that idea and took just me! BUMMER!

Jonah's First School Picture

Remember me telling you about the day Jonah took school picture? If not, go here to read the post that day. Did you read it? can keep going now.

Even though he was dressed for the beach pictures, I think these came out great. My little baby boy DOES NOT look like a baby, does he? He looks so grown up.

Breathing Treatments....UUUGH!

I had to go visit Dr. Russ Friday because I was wheezing. She sent us home with an awful contraption. Now, I have to do breathing treatments every 4 hours. The first day was BAD! They had to hold me down while I got them. It took 2 people to give them to me.

Kassi was over Friday night and she had to hold me down while mommy held the mask on my face. (She was less than thrilled about this!)

Have you ever seen a more pitiful face than this??? I thought if I looked really sad then my mom might forgo the next treatment. WRONG!
After all was said and done, she let me play with the mask in hopes of me thinking the mask is my friend. NOT HAPPENING!
The next morning, we tried the treatments again with a little more success. I barely even screamed and they didn't both have to hold me down. Daddy did it on his own.
Saturday afternoon was a complete success. I was so tired that I fell asleep during the breathing treatment.

Don't let the last 2 pics fool you...I still hate the treatments but I am tolerating them now. And, I would like a little sympathy, please!!!
