Accepting applications for new parents

Seriously...I really am!

Today hasn't been a good day for me. (or my parents for that matter!!) This morning, daddy was feeding me and about to put me down for a nap when I got sick. I threw up everywhere!!! (I know, TMI) He called for mommy to come help. She and daddy worked together to get my nasty clothes off and get me changed. Mommy leaned down to pick up some clothes and daddy was wiping my nastiness off of him when I FELL OFF THE CHANGING TABLE ONTO THE HARDWOOD FLOOR AND HIT MY HEAD!!!! It hurt really bad. Mommy and Daddy were both in tears! (Don't tell my daddy's friends that he cried! He only did because he knew how bad I was hurt and couldn't do anything to make me feel better!!!) They knew they had to get me to the Emergency Room so daddy dressed me while mommy called the ER at Natchez Regional. She was hoping Mrs. Charla Knapp would be there. She is the Nurse Manager of the ER and it would be nice if she were there. Well, she was off today so mommy called her at home. She told my mom that if I went to the ER, they couldn't do anything for me unless some time had passed and I had exhibited certain signs. She told mommy exactly what to watch for. So, they didn't take me to the ER but just watched me like a hawk all day long. I'm doing okay but the left back side of my head is double its normal size.

Well, as if that wasn't enough, they were giving me a bath tonight and slipped out of their hands and hit the front of my head!! Please, tell me how this could happen two times in one day?? They were both present both times and I still got hurt!!! I know it wasn't their fault either time. I'm just moving SO much and so quick these days. No one should ever take their eyes off of me. I'll never have a moment to myself again after today!!

Obviously, I have no pictures of either of these events to post. Thankfully, my mommy comforted me instead of running for the camera.

Tickle Toes

I got a new bear from the Hibbs that cracks me up. When you tickle his toes, he laughs...really hard! It is so funny. Mommy brought it home from work to me today. I've been sick ALL week so it made me feel better.

My first dental visit

OK...I know, you really aren't supposed to visit the dentist until around age 3. BUT, I had my first visit at 8 months old. It wasn't a scheduled visit, it just kind of happened. My mommy had an appointment at Dr. Ramsey's office. (She was working there when she met my daddy.

She worked there for 8 years.) Mommy was back in the chair talking to Mrs. Alisa when my daddy took me back to see my mommy. Considering I'm so resilient, mommy decided to try something. She put the suction in my mouth and I knew exactly what to do. I closed down on it. Then I got quite tickled with myself!!! So, mommy kept doing it.
Then, she decided to get a little more adventurous. She got the air/water syringe and sprayed air on me. Well, that was just hilarious to me. Keep in mind, all of this was going on while mommy was laid out in the dental chair. (Dr. Ramsey and Mrs. Shellie could hear us laughing from the operatory next door. They wondered what on earth was going on!!!)
Since we were having so much fun, I moved from Mrs. Alisa's lap to my mom's lap. You can see in the picture below that I knew exactly what to do when the suction and air/water syringe came near me!
Mrs. Alisa even adjusted the light so mommy could see in my mouth. She accused mommy of wanting to be a dental assistant again. (Apparently, that was a very unsuccessful, short-lived portion of my mom's 12 years in dentistry!!!)

In case you are wondering why I did so well and was such a big boy, here is why. My friend Rob is seeing the dentist Friday and I wanted to show him how easy it is. So, Rob, be a big boy like me!!! (Granted, he is having his wisdom teeth out!)

Videos from the day

Here are 3 videos from yesterday. When you see me squint during the dental videos that is when mommy sprayed me with air! Don't get on to her, I loved it!!!

Big 'ole bunny!

We made a quick stop by Sam's for some baby food. As we made a turn through the clothes section, mommy spotted a huge white bunny. She put it in the cart and put me on top of it. I think that was the most comfortable thing I had ever seen.

Toys R Us

After we left the hospital, I went to sleep in my car seat for a while. Mommy and daddy had to stay in town for a dentist appointment at 2:30. So, they just let me sleep until I woke up. Then, we went to Toys R Us for a post-surgery present. I got a new keyring teether. I love those things. While we were there, we looked at wagons. I hope to get one soon.

The store was practically empty so we got to play with everything. Mommy and daddy bounced this ball back and forth to each other and I loved it. They let me hold it for a little while. I tried to bounce it but I wasn't very good at catching it when it came back up.

Check out this rocking horse. I thought it was pretty neat. I rode it and rocked like crazy! They decided to video me rocking so wild then I calmed WAY down. (as usual!)

Back at Christmas, I got a present from the Hibbs. It lights up and plays music and has rotating gears on it. It is my ABSOLUTE, HANDS DOWN favorite toy that I have. Mommy thinks it is what made me start crawling. Well, when we were at ToysRUs, I spotted it on the shelf. I got SO excited when I saw it. I started flailing my arms and legs. Mommy and daddy thought it was so funny.

They tried to divert my attention but I kept looking for the gear toy. They didn't buy me a new one but I did get to play with mine as soon as I got home!!

Tubes for me!

Well, I made it! I have a tube in each ear and feel great. It was a very early morning for me. I got up at 5:15 a.m. Can you believe the wouldn't give me anything to eat? I don't think that was a nice thing to do to a kid who is used to eating FIRST thing every morning.

We got to the surgical center and waited in the waiting room for them to call my name. I was still in my pajamas. Mommy said it was the first time I had been out of the house with PJ's on. Daddy said my pj's were cute enough to wear out in public. Mommy did not agree! So, I assume this is the last time I'll be out in my night clothes.

As you can see, I got to bring "Lammy" with me. He usually doesn't leave my bed. So, this was a really big trip for him!!!
After they called me to the back, the weighed me and asked my parents lots of questions about me. Then, they gave me this silly looking gown to wear. It didn't have a back! Mommy thought it would be funny to take my diaper off and get a picture of my naked bottom shining through the gown. I did not see the humor in that! Thankfully, she changed her mind!

The anesthesiologist came in and told my parents what would happen every minute that I was away from them. He was funny! He asked if I was a smoker or a drinker! HA! Mommy told him I used to smoke but gave it up around 4 months. He gave me a thumbs up for quitting! Then, Dr. Harrison came to tell us good morning. After they left, mommy played peek-a-boo with me until the nurse came to get me.

From what I hear, my mommy was very brave. She knew I was in very good hands but she still worried about me. She was so glad when the nurse called them back to say I was all done. When they walked in my room, my very own nurse had me wrapped in a blanket and was rocking me and feeding me juice. She gave me to my mommy and I was very happy about that!!!

Mommy rocked me for a while and loved on me. Then, I got very fussy! They warned us this would happen. The doctors said that babies act very fussy and disoriented when they are sedated. They said it lasts for about 30 minutes and that I would be inconsolable. Boy, were they right!!! Mommy handed me off to daddy to see if he could do any good. Nope...I was still very unhappy!!! I was just so confused! Crystal said my cousin Bayleigh did the same thing when she had to be sedated. I guess it is normal. I tried not to be so fussy but I just couldn't help it.

After about 30 minutes, I was magically okay! Dr. Harrison came in to say hi and tell my mom and dad how great I did. Then he told them a funny story about me. He said that when the put babies to sleep, most of them scream and pitch a fit. Apparently, the hardest part is getting them to keep the mask on their face. Well, the mask connects to an "L" shaped bracket that connects to a hose. When they were getting it all put together, I just grabbed the hose and stuck it in my mouth and closed my lips around it like I knew what I was doing. I was out in no time. They said I was a huge help to them. Daddy said it sounds like I may be a huffer when I grow up! Here I am with my daddy and Dr. Harrison. (As you can see, I'm very interested in his hat!!)

We stayed there just a little while longer just to be sure I was okay then daddy dressed me and we got to leave. It wasn't bad at all. I'm not ready to do it again anytime soon, but it really wasn't bad!

An Easter basket from Mimi

My mom called Mimi at 7:45 tonight to see if we could stay at her house. She was at the hospital spending the night with Granny Simmons. She has been in the hospital for a whole week and Mimi spends the night with her there. Anyway, when Mimi heard I was going to her house, she called Uncle Larry to stay with Granny for a little while so she could see me. Mom told her we wouldn't be there until after 10 p.m. but she didn't care. She wanted to see me no matter how late it was. I was glad because she had an Easter Basket for me. It was full of stuff just for me!! (Gerber Graduates, bubbles, bath toys, a stuffed tool set and a carrot baseball bat.)

Late night...early morning!

It is 10:35 p.m. and we just got to Jackson. Jonah slept from Vidalia to Brookhaven but woke up hungry. So, we stopped to eat and feed him. He then slept from Brookhaven to Jackson. Now, we are trying to keep him awake until about 11:15 to give him a final feeding. He can't have anything to eat or drink after midnight. So, we plan to stuff him right up until the last minute. We aren't looking forward to waking him at 5:30 a.m. and not being able to feed him. :-(

We have to be at the hospital at 6:30 a.m. so it will be a very early morning. By the time most of you read this, our little Jonahbug will probably be done with surgery and back to his normal self. Thanks for thinking of him and praying for us!

Another old man hat for Melanie!

HA! I got another old man hat just for Melanie! I know how much she likes them. Even if she doesn't, The Chandlers and Sue did! They all thought I was dressed awfully cute for church today. (Even though my pants were too long!!!)

Morning Boy!

Wanna know how I know that God has a great sense of humor??? He gave me (the ultimate morning boy) to my parents. They are ANYTHING but morning people. This is what I looked like when mommy came to get me out of the bed this morning.

Mommy has had a hard time feeding me lately. I tend to focus my attention on Max while I should be eating. He may not show it often, but he does love me almost as much as I love him!
