Time to vote!

During halftime, we all went to the old courthouse to vote! We had plans to stroll up there but it was kind of hot so we just drove. They had new voting machines that were really cool. It took a little while because there were 13 amendments. (Plus all the other stuff!) Mommy and daddy had to take a cheat sheet in with them because they couldn't remember everything. By the way, if you look really close, you can see the band aids on my legs when I'm in the voting booth. I kept them on today for sympathy. It worked!

Another bad day for the bulldogs!

Mommy came into the living room today to find daddy dressing me in Maroon and White. He thought that we might could pull the bulldogs through if we were dressed out. It didn't work! For a little while, me and my daddy laid on the floor and watched the game together. Mommy thought that was pretty funny. Sometimes when I got bored with the ballgame, I watched the ceiling fan instead. (Don't tell daddy though!)

SHOTS!!!

Well, my day started like most any other day. Ms. Faye got here and mommy and daddy left for work. Then, in the middle of the day, daddy shows back up. Then, the next thing I know, while daddy is feeding me, mommy comes home. Daddy changed me then we headed outside. I was a little excited because it looked like we were going to play outside for awhile. Then we got in the car.

I was still in a very good mood. I was smiling and cooing. Mommy and daddy kept saying they felt bad that I was so happy. I wondered what that meant. (NOW I KNOW!)

The next thing I know, we are at Dr. Russ's office. They kept talking about shots. I wasn't sure what that was all about but it didn't sound good!

The nurse weighed me and I weighed 12 lbs and 4 ounces. Then she measured me and I was almost 24 inches long. I have really grown in the past 2 months. Then, Dr. Russ came in and checked me. She said I looked great. She was very impressed with my head control. She kept saying, "Y'all look at him...look at him!" I was on my belly and holding my head way up high for her. She told my parents that I was really strong! Yay for me!!!

Dr. Russ told daddy to dress me but leave my snaps undone. While we waited on Anna Laura to come in, mommy talked to me and told me that I would be okay. I wondered to myself, "why wouldn't I be okay?" Well, I was about to find out!!

Notice how calm I am even though the needle is in my leg???? Well, keep looking!!!!

It was very sad! I screamed harder than I ever have before! Mommy cried! Daddy didn't! Mommy picked me up as soon as Anna Laura was done and I was all better! (well, after a little while!)

After we left Dr. Russ's office, my daddy had to make hospital visits. So, mommy and I stayed in the car and he visited church members who were sick. Then, we came home and guess who came to see me? Aunt Sue! She missed me! She held me for a while and I made the mistake of laughing and smiling. All of the sudden, everyone started talking about how well I was doing! Hello??? I was hoping for sympathy all night. Looks like that has gone out the window now! I should have cried instead!
Oh well! I just had another dose of Tylenol and I'm headed to bed for the night!! Oh, by the way...I slept for almost 7 hours last night! Can you believe it??? Mommy and Daddy were so proud of me.

Winter clothes

I got up around 6 this morning and decided it was time to play. Mommy thought she could just put me back down but I wanted to stay up. So, she fed me then we went to let Max outside. When she opened the door, we both realized it was a bit chilly outside! SO, she changed me and put me in one of my sleepers I had not worn before. How cute is this? (By the way, both my mommy and daddy love it when I wear stripes!!! Lets all hope I never get too big for horizontal stripes!)

Okay...it looks like a Senior Portrait pose but I didn't do it on purpose. I was moving my hand and mommy snapped the picture at the perfect time. Either way, am I cute or what??? (It's no wonder I have a stalker already!!!)

Today is the end of my first full week with Ms. Faye, the nanny! I have to say, it is going much better than I expected. She normally won't stay with me on Friday's because my daddy is off but she had to stay today because he had to work. It's okay though because I really like her. Mommy and daddy said they will be home around 1 or 1:30 so they can take me to see Dr. Russ and Anna Laura for my shots. Uh-oh!! I have a feeling it is going to be a long weekend! :-(

Trip to Jackson

My daddy had a dentist appointment at Dr. Ramsey's office today. Kristy called us from there on Wednesday to say they had time for mommy to get her teeth cleaned too! So, we all loaded up and headed to Jackson around 11:00 this morning. I went to meet Sissy instead of going to the dentist office. She is here helping Mawmaw because she had knee replacement surgery last week. She has wanted to meet me for a while now but she lives in Tampa, Florida and that is WAY too far for me to go on a road trip! Dona, Shellie, Kristy and Debbie were all sad I didn't go to the dentist office because they wanted to see me again. Mommy promised she would take me next time.

This picture is right before we left home. I was too sleepy to stay awake so I took a little nap in my swing before we left. See my jeans? They are the first ones I have ever put on. They are 0-3 months but still way too long. Mommy tried them on just to see. Still a little too big though! OH well!! I'll be able to wear them later! I go to the doctor tomorrow for my 2 month shots. Everyone can't wait to see how much I weigh and how long I am.

Here I am with Sissy feeding me a bottle. It is obvious that her attention is not completely on me. It appears that she is talking to other people. We'll have to work on that in the future!

When mommy and daddy came back to get me, Mimi had me dressed in a pumpkin costume. It was my cousin Hannah's very first Halloween outfit. I liked it at first but then I got hot and wanted it OFF!

Crystal brought Bayleigh's swing to my Mimi so I could use it when I am there. As you can see, I am quite comfortable in it!!

HOME AGAIN! HOME AGAIN! This picture was taken after we got back home tonight. I appear to be very content and happy. That was not the case on the ride home. I screamed from Brookhaven until we got home. Daddy had to pull over in a Pentecostal church parking lot so we could all get out for awhile. I continued to scream and cry there for about 30 minutes. Have I mentioned that I am not a big fan of road trips???

I almost forgot...

Here are the month 2 comparison pictures!

BIRTH (07/27/2006)

1 MONTH OLD (08/27/2006)

2 MONTHS OLD (9/ 27/2006)

From my mommy...

Jonah is 2 months old today. It is so hard to believe that 2 months have passed already. I've thought all day today about how much has changed in this short time. What have I learned in the past 9 weeks?

1. Sleep is overrated.
(Did you ever think I would say that???)
2. People surprise you.
(I won't go into detail, but it is true!)
3. Children truly are a gift from God.
(It doesn't matter if they enter your family by birth or adoption!)
4. Yes, I still love my dog!
(Everyone says he would fade into the background! NOT TRUE!)
5. As a mom, you pray a whole lot more!
(How could you not?)
6. I'm blessed with a wonderful husband!
(As if I, or anyone else ever doubted that!)
7. I can now say I've held a miracle in my arms!
(We begged God for this little boy and were always told it would never happen! God had other plans!)

Happy Birthday to me!

I am 2 months old today!!! Can you believe how much I've grown and how much I have learned in such a short time? I even amaze myself!!!
Yeah, so it is my 2 month birthday. I am growing SO fast. Mommy sang happy birthday to me and while she was singing, Max went crazy. (no, not because of her singing!) The UPS man was at the door and would you believe he had presents for me??? I got the coolest outfit from my daddy's Uncle Gerald and Aunt Nancy. It had corduroy overhauls, a shirt and a FUN hat. AND, I got a box from my mommy's friend Shelly in California. It had a kids Bible and a Baby Einstein CD of classical music. I'm listening to it now as I write this. I love getting presents in the mail. I especially like it because mommy has to write the thank you notes while I'm still so little! (Yeah, I know I can type but I can't write just yet!!) Then, just when I thought my 2 month birthday couldn't get any better, my daddy came home to see me at 4:30 p.m. That may not seem like a big deal but I never get to see him on Wednesdays. That is one of his busiest days and when he leaves for work I don't see him until after church on Wednesday night. He said that since Christmas choir starts tonight that he needs to stay so he came home to see me for a little while before church. Man, he's a good daddy!!!

Here is the hat from Uncle Gerald and Aunt Nancy. It's a little big now but will be perfect for when it is really cold! Keep looking to see the whole outfit and my Bible and CD from Juan and Shelly. I told you it was a good day for me!!

Other birthday pictures

It looks like my swaddle days are coming to an end. The Miracle Blanket has been just that...A Miracle! But, I'm starting to wiggle my feet out and mommy says before long, my arms will probably come out too! The packaging says it works up to about 12 weeks so we will see if that is true for me. I wonder how I will sleep without it. I've been a good sleeper this whole time so we will see if that holds true. Mommy and Daddy sure hope it does!!

Ha! Could I be any cuter in the picture below? Mr. Jamie and Mrs. Darlene gave me this bear. You can kind of see that it has my name on the bib. It is the first time I've held it on my own. I told you I'm getting big...fast!!!

My Mimi gave me the dog when she found out I was a boy! It is really soft and cuddly. Max thinks it is his toy so mommy keeps it up higher than he can reach so he doesn't get it.

This is the fire truck my Pop and Mimi had. My family has all girls so they were saving it for the first boy. That would be me! I'm ready to get in it and drive.

HA HA HA! Look at Max. He is driving my firetruck! I'll let him do it for now but when I am old enough, he is not allowed to get in anymore! And, by the way, see the dog bed by the front of the fire truck? Well, granny and granddaddy gave that to Max and he never showed much interest in it. UNTIL NOW! Mommy laid me on it the other day when we were on the floor and all of the sudden, Max loves it! So, mommy moved it to my room so Max could lay in it while they are rocking me. Would you believe he gets in it every time now? Crazy dog...he is so jealous. They have had the thing since last Christmas and he would not get near it. I touch it once and all of the sudden he can't live without it??? Give me a break!!!

We went outside for a little while and Aunt Belinda and Taylor drove up. Mommy put me in the car with them and I pretended to drive. I wish I could drive mommy and daddy's car rather than being stuck in that silly car seat. I do not like that thing! (NO offense, granny and grandaddy (since you are the ones that gave it to me) but they stick me in there and I'm in the backseat ALL by myself. I'm used to all the attention but when we get in the car, they seem to focus forward. I hate that! Although, I do like the fact that with the car seat came a stroller that is fun! So, I guess it is okay after all...just not in the car for very long!!!

A good day for the baby boy...

I would like to begin this post with a quote from Aunt Sue. "Dan, you're a dork!" My daddy did the funniest thing tonight to make my mommy laugh. After work, he went over to another church to visit his minister friends there. Then he had hospital visits to do. So, he gets home around 6 p.m. and cleans out his car before coming inside. His tie from a couple of weeks ago was still in the backseat. So, when he got to the front door, he decided it would be funny to put it on (with a short sleeve shirt and a shirt that did not come close to matching!!!) and walk inside for mommy to see. Mommy was holding me and laughed out loud...a lot! I know this is my blog but I wanted you to see who I'll be getting fashion advice from. (Stephen May...PLEASE HELP ME!!!!)

After daddy got home, we went outside for a little while. The weather was so nice. Max got to play with daddy and I laid on the blanket with mommy. I like being outside. People kept waving and honking at us. I did not want to come inside but mommy had her outside quota for the year!

Here is another one of my daddy's pictures that are completely useless! I think that is the top of my head in the VERY bottom of the picture. Even if it isn't, I thought you might like to see how pretty the sky was tonight. (Thanks, daddy!) By the way, I hear my daddy is a better preacher than photographer! We should all be grateful for that!

We came back inside for a diaper change and I decided to play on my changing table for a while. Sometimes I am SO content in there.

DISCLAIMER: Yes, my daddy knew how bad he looked in the first picture. People keep asking if my daddy wore that to work. He did it TOTALLY to make my mommy laugh. It worked!
